FPTA President’s Message: 2020 Conference Update and Moving Forward

Dear Friends,

After many months of deliberation, and with an eye on the ever-evolving coronavirus environment, the FPTA Board of Directors has made the difficult decision to cancel our December 2020 Conference and Trade Show. We waited until the last possible moment in hope that the clouds might part and allow us to gather together safely on a Florida beach and celebrate as only FPTA members can.

Briefly, our decision was influenced by several important factors. First, while the resort is taking extraordinary measures to ensure the safety of its guests in small groups, we simply did not see any effective way to organize a traditional conference and maintain adequate social distancing for a large group such as ours. Additionally, we surveyed members and found that many of you are unable to attend due to travel restrictions set by your employers and/or a degree of personal uncertainty – and we understand! Further, we determined that a much smaller conference with lower attendance would significantly increase the cost per person and result in a financial loss to the association.

I know I speak for the full Board when I tell you that we will miss seeing you in educational sessions and on the exhibit hall floor, and catching up personally with each of you at networking activities and social events.

However, December remains the month for FPTA’s annual celebration, and 2020 will be no exception. Please stay tuned for our forthcoming announcement about our December event. We promise you something more than “another virtual conference.”

Please follow us on LinkedIn and Facebook to make sure you receive these updates, and stay up to date on all things parking, transportation, and mobility throughout Florida.

Best wishes,

Scott
