FPTA Board Changes and Future Initiatives

At the Florida Parking and Transportation Association (FPTA), our mission has always been to promote and represent parking and transportation throughout Florida, enhance the professional image of the industry, and serve as a unifying force in promoting state and local legislation. As we have grown and expanded our reach in recent years, we have regularly sought to identify opportunities and initiatives to ensure that we are actively pursuing and achieving these goals.

As Immediate Past President of FPTA, I wanted to share with our members and prospective members some recent updates to the structure of our organization. These changes will allow us to continue to move forward in the effort to support our members and promote the parking and transportation industry throughout Florida and beyond.

In 2019, the FPTA Board of Directors proposed the idea of increasing our total number of board members from 9 to 11. This would not only offer additional opportunities for FPTA members to serve in leadership, but also increase the professional knowledge and experience of the board. Further, this change would help to expand FPTA’s reach, as well as expand our ability to offer more initiatives and programs to industry professionals in our region.

In December of 2019, the FPTA Board of Directors introduced this topic to our members and it was approved. As a result, the upcoming FPTA Board of Directors election platform will include two additional board seats for director at large positions, increasing the open board seats each year from two to four.  Additionally, the 2021 board will appoint the positions of President-elect, Treasurer, and the new role of Treasurer Elect. Moving forward, the FPTA Board will include the following 11 members:

·       President

·       President-elect

·       Past President

·       Treasurer

·       Treasurer-elect

·       Secretary

·       Directors at Large (five)
