These days, everything around us is getting smart!  Your house, your car, your watch…and the Parking and Mobility Industry is no exception.

This can be overwhelming to parking and mobility professionals regardless of if they oversee a mature parking and mobility program or are just getting started. This presentation will introduce participants to the Smart City/Campus/Community concept and help them gain comfort and confidence in beginning their journey towards implementing Smart Infrastructure Solutions.

Learning Objectives:

1.     Define what it means to be a Smart City/Campus/Community

2.     Understand the benefits of becoming a Smart City/Campus/Community and the impacts on Economic Development, Urban Planning, and Mobility.

3.     Identify the details of what is included in being a Smart City/Campus/Community

4.     Explore Strategies towards implementing Smart Infrastructure Solutions from which a City/Campus/Community can scale.

With more than 17 years of experience in Parking and Mobility, recently on the Senior Management team the largest solutions providers in the industry, Thomas is an experienced leader in operations, sales and organizational development.  With past leadership experience as a parking operator in the private and municipal sectors, Thomas has an extensive background in parking and mobility operations as well as development and implementation of supporting technologies.  Thomas serves on the Board of Directors for the Florida Parking and Transportation Association (President Elect), is a member of the IPMI Technology Committee, and is an IPMI APO Site Reviewer.

 

Jim Corbett, CAPP , Director of Studies, Walker Consultants

Jim Corbett is Director of Studies in the Tampa office responsible for overseeing operations consulting, financial planning, and municipal planning projects. Prior to joining Walker in 2015, Jim served as the municipal parking manager for the City of Tampa and the Ann Arbor Downtown Development Authority. Executive-level leadership experience in each of these roles enabled Jim to gain specialized experience managing and developing strategic initiatives for municipal and private parking systems, including on-street parking, residential parking, arenas and stadiums, hospitals, convention centers, performing arts centers, and community redevelopment districts.

 

Tania Schleck, Consultant/Project Manager, Walker Consultants

Tania’s focus at Walker is on parking and transportation consulting relating to policy and planning and a range of geographies and scales. Her analyses frequently evaluate the relationship between parking and issues such as land use, real estate, economic development, “placemaking”, and transportation alternatives. Tania performs a range of studies for cities, counties, business associations, universities, hospitals, developers, and property owners, including parking supply and demand analyses, shared parking studies, parking management plans, and parking operations studies. She works with clients on developing parking and transportation strategies designed to meet their policy and operational goals.
